I was iced in a couple weeks back, and I treated myself to a marathon of GODZILLA vs GIGAN, GODZILLA vs MECHAGODZILLA, and TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA...I was keeping the subtitles on, so I could compare the International dubs to the translated Japanese soundtrack, when I saw this odd moment.
The professor explains his pipe is made of a (most likely made-up) mystery metal. It's pretty bad when the translators on the official DVD have no idea what is going on.
